Bondage *

Bondage is a sadomasochistic practice which consists of attaching one's partner in the context of an erotic or sexual relationship.

9 LEVELS OF SUBMISSION

Within the SM subculture, many people use the words "submissive" and "slave". To describe several different concepts. When a submissive says, "I want to be your slave!" sometimes he/she just means he/she wants to be tied, gagged, and whipped. e). Many professional dominants refer to their "not so submissive" clients as "slaves". At the other end, there are people who wish to become personal "servants", owned by a Master, and whose sole purpose of existence is to to exist for their Master(ess) for his pleasure and to serve him. Between these two extremes, there are several shades of "submission".​

1 - THE NON-SUBMITTED MASOCHIST OR THE SENSUAL FETICHIST

servitude, humiliation or "giving" control to others; he (she) is interested only in pain and/or more "spicy" sensuality, always under his own control and term, for his personal pleasure. (Desire to receive only bodily sensations and not interested in being used to serve a partner with "sadistic" needs)

2 - THE SUBMITTED NAME, NOT SLAVE

Not interested in "playing the slave", but interested in other submissive roles, such as school teacher scenes, infantilism, forced cross-dressing. Often interested in humiliation, but not in serving a Master even in game. Will largely decide the game and the rules.

3 - THE SUBMITTED PSEUDO, SLAVE PER GAME

Likes to "play" the slave. Likes to feel submissive and serve a Master and in some cases likes to be used to satisfy his partner with sadistic needs, but in all cases on his own terms and conditions. Largely dictates the flow of the scene. Often fetishists such as foot admirers (foot fetish).

4 - THE TRUE SUBMITTED, NOT SLAVE

Gives control to his partner (temporarily and within certain negotiated limits). Finds satisfaction in aspects of submission other than serving or being used by a Master. Excited by suspense, vulnerability and/or giving responsibility to their partner. Has little or no control of the scene, except in broad details, but seeks his direct pleasure (as opposed to having pleasure in pleasing the dominant).

5 - THE REAL SUBMITTED, SLAVE PER GAME

Gives control to his partner (temporarily and during certain scenes, briefly and within certain negotiated limits.) Finds satisfaction in serving and being used by his dominant ), but only for fun, often erotic. Little or no love of pain. If loves pain, loves it in an indirect way (being used by a partner with sadistic needs and the submissive places few limits on this aspect of the scene).

6 - SHORT TERM SLAVE, WITHOUT COMMITTING BUT MORE THAN A SUBJECT GAME

Gives control to his partner (normally within certain limits and restrictions), to serve and be used by the dominant, for both erotic and non-erotic occasions, but only when the submissive feels like it. Can also become a "full-time" slave but for a determined period such as several days, but can decide to stop when he (she) wants. May or may not have a long term relationship with a Master, except that the submissive has the final say on when he/she will serve his/her Master.

7 - PART-TIME, CONSENSUAL BUT TRUE SLAVE

Has a relationship with a Master and considers himself the Master's property at all times. Wants to obey and satisfy the Master in both non-erotic and erotic daily activities. Will often devote time to other activities such as work, but his/her Master will have first choice over his/her free time.

8 - FULL-TIME, CONSENSUAL SLAVE

Apart from a few basic rules, and limits, the slave considers to exist only for the pleasure and the well-being of the dominant. On the other hand, the slave will demand to be considered as the greatest possession of his/her dominant. Her situation is not very different from the traditional situation of the housewife, except that in the SM philosophy, her position is consensual. What is even more true, if the slave is male. Within SM philosophy, a slave will enter into a relationship with a dominant, after carefully considering that relationship, because of the magnitude of self-sacrifice, and the power given to the dominant. The slave is also even more aware of the dangers of this type of relationship, and will enter into it after an extremely clear and precise agreement, even more, of the type of agreement that can precede a marriage.

9 - TOTAL SLAVE, CONSENSUAL AND WITHOUT LIMITS

An ideal fantasy, which probably does not exist in reality. (Except for certain type of religions or sects, where consent is induced by brainwashing, so not consensual.) Some SM purists will say that a slave is not a slave, if he (she) is not ready to do ANYTHING that he may have been ordered to do, by his dominant. The author of these lines has encountered people who call themselves slaves without limits, but the author has his reasons to doubt the veracity of these assertions.
